How to write wood name in the scientific report?
When you write the Japanese cedar in the scientific report, you must write “”Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica)”.
Scientific name must be written in Italic!!
How to write wood name in the scientific report?
There are many pulps name such as NBKP. LBKP, NDSP and so on. However, they are not acceptable in the scientific reports, because they are just business abbreviations.
So, you must write “softwood bleached kraft pulp”, “hardwood bleached kraft pulp”, “softwood dissolving sulfite pulp” and so on.
Softwood
Wood has many species. Wood is roughly separated softwood or hardwood. So, softwood is one of the wood category, and has many wood species, such as pine ans spruce.

Japanese cedar
It is the wood species name. So, Japanese cedar has only one of it.
Its Japanese name is “スギ”, and English name is “Japanese ceder”, and its scientific name is “Cryptomeria japonica”.

Pulp name in business abbreviations
先頭の”N”と”L”は「ドイツ語」です。ドイツ語で、針葉樹:Nadelbaum、広葉樹:Laubbaumなどと呼ぶそうです。
たまに、先頭に”S”をつける人がいますが、それは英語の「針葉樹:Softwood」のことです。例えば、「SBKP」は、「針葉樹漂白パルプ」で「NBKP」と同じ意味です。(一方、先頭に”H”をつける人は、見たことがありません)
こんな習慣、イラっとしますね。略称は使わないようにしましょう!!!
具体的には、NBKPやSBKPと記載せず、”softwood bleached kraft pulp”と記載する。
